Garland Construction Corporation was started as a family business in 1979 by Edward Orwat a third-generation general contractor, building on the fifteen years of experience he gained working for Joseph orwat & Sons, Inc., the company incorporated by his grandfather, Joseph Orwat, In 1949. Edward brought with him strong management skills and in-depth knowledge of all phases of the construction industry including, excavation, masonry, demolition, laboring, carpentry, painting, and contract administration.  Edward earned an exceptional reputation within the city of Chicopee and throughout western Massachusetts. 

In 2012 Edward retired and granted control of Garland Construction Corporation to his son Daniel J. Orwat.  A carpenter by trade with over 25 years of experience and knowledge regarding all phases of construction, Daniel's goal was to continue his father's mission superior quality and honest dealing while bringing Garland Construction Corporation to the next levels of commercial, government & municipal construction.

In 2019, after nine years of 100% involvement in the day-to-day activities and financial decision-making, Jilliane Orwat purchased a majority share of Garland Construction Corporation and has served as its President since July of 2020.  Jilliane holds a BS in Legal Studies from Bay Path University and earned her MA CSL-Unrestricted through hands on job experience and project managing for Garland Construction Corporation. With over 20 years of experience working with contracts, municipal licensing, and human resources, Jilliane brings a wealth of construction and corporate experience to her role as President of Garland Construction Corporation. Her dedication to the success of Garland Construction Corporation and the Orwat name is unquestionable. Jilliane and Daniel share the same vision in continuing to expand Garland Construction Corpration's presence as a leader in the commercial general construction industry.

Since Joseph orwat arrived in this country in 1912, the Orwat name has held a first-rate reputation in the construction industry. Since it was established in 1979, Garland Construction Corporation has merged generations of experience and skill into a company that maintains a remarkable reputation as a competitive contracting company.
